The adoption of productive agricultural systems that make intensive use of pesticides, herbicides and synthetic fertilizers has led to a drastic decline in biodiversity, soil health and human health.

Halting the negative consequences associated with intensive agriculture, however, is possible through the creation of agro-ecosystems that are more biodiverse, sustainable and resilient to climate change.
